The Grounds

Located on the lower slopes of the property, Kyaninga Lodge’s beautiful gardens are the creation of London-based landscape designer Imogen Jenkins. The gardens were specially designed to provide a counterpoint to the magnificent lodge, and include one of the very few grass tennis courts in the country as well as probably the only croquet lawn in Uganda. Aside from providing the opportunity for games, Kyaninga Lodge’s extensive grounds also feature a kitchen garden, where produce is grown for the lodge’s restaurant, and a fruit tree orchard. In an effort to reverse the deforestation in the local area, Kyaninga Lodge has planted over ten thousand indigenous trees and has an active programme for working with the surrounding population to maintain the local ecosystem.
